BoP Innovation Center does so by including the people in the BoP not only as consumers, but also as professionals in the business operations of our clients. We have specific knowledge regarding marketing & distribution in BoP markets to provide our clients with meaningful insights, strengthen their capacity and develop strategies to generate business and social impact.
Brand new product introduced in Ethiopia
For the Ethiopian food processor Guts Agro, we have developed a value proposition and introduced a brand new product in Ethiopia for them: Super moms. This is a highly nutritious blend of maize and soybeans, developed for low-income consumers, especially for young children and expectant or breastfeeding mothers.
In addition, BoP Innovation Center developed an innovative micro-franchise distribution model for Supermom. This new model increases access to nutritious foods for low-income consumers by enabling female entrepreneurs to own and operate a profitable business. It will create employment and increase opportunities for small entrepreneurs and unemployed women in Ethiopia.
In most developing and newly industrialised countries, raw milk is not cooled at farm level. As a result, quality of (evening) milk is lost because it doesn’t survive the heat overnight. To tackle this issue we have helped the Dutch companies Simgas and Mueller to develop a milk chiller which runs on biogas. BoP Innovation Center has been providing support regarding an inclusive approach, the business development strategy and developing a marketing and distribution strategy.
Check this blog for a more detailed perspective on how we developed the marketing strategy for the Biogas Milk Chiller.
