Elleni Dereje brings extensive experience across diverse sectors, including
wholesale, retail, distribution, investment advisory, media, and startup ecosystems.
Her work has encompassed market system developments in both host and refugee
communities within Ethiopia. Her expertise spans from project management,
business development, value and supply chain optimization, market entry strategy,
corporate and business model restructuring, investment model building, organizational communication, research and analytics, venture building, innovation and technology interventions, market system development, to Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL).
Throughout her career, Elleni has spearheaded new business implementations,
restructured business models, and established research and market insights
departments. As a data scientist, she has driven market entry, growth, and expansion
initiatives, engaging end-user customers, producers, and decision-makers across
various markets.
As Bopinc's Impact Manager in Ethiopia under the Beyond Farming Collective proggrame, Ms. Dereje is responsible for managing and overseeing BFC investments
within the Ethiopian Agri-Food Industry Organizations (AFIOs) landscape. She also
leads the introduction of innovative and tech-based solution interventions
implemented under BFC in the country.
Ms. Dereje holds a Master's degree in journalism and communication and a
Bachelor Degree in political science and international relations from Addis Ababa
University. Her additional qualifications include programs in Data Science, Market
System Development, and Startup Venture Building. Elleni is also a graduate of the
CFO 100 Program for Elite Senior Financial Executives in East Africa.
