To accelerate the development of profitable BoP innovations it is necessary to share knowledge and develop advisory services to support enterprises, ngo’s and financial institutions in their efforts to establish inclusive businesses.
Over the past years BoP Innovation Center developed ‘3 Pilots for Pro-Poor Innovation’ (3P4PPI). Through these pilots with market-driven pro-poor innovations, BoP Innovation Center captured best practice experiences and shared knowledge with organizations involved in inclusive business. The best practice experiences enabled BoP Innovation Center to develop tools and services in the field of inclusive innovations.
The following pilots were successfully executed:
Medical testkit for substandard drugs
Biogas socket for charging small electric devices
Small scale storage for fresh dairy Flexible cold chains for fresh vegetables
These pilots provide a deeper understanding of the different development stages of the BoP innovation cycle. Validated tools and services increase the number and quality of inclusive businesses and accelerate further development of inclusive innovations.
The pilots have resulted in four publications, already used by many as a point of departure for inclusive business developments:
